Not Just for Mountain Bikers
Morzine and the surrounding areas might receive all their press coverage for mountain biking but the area is also excellent for road cycling. The Tour de France is a regular visitor to Morzine (and rightly so with many top quality routes and testing cols to climb.  Morzine has hosted the Tour de France stage finishes on several occasions, thanks in part to the proximity of the notoriously steep Col de Joux-Plane climb.  It was here that 7 times Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong had his most difficult moment in the 2000 race.  In 2009, Morzine will again be hosting Stage 17 during the last week of July (scheduled for the 22nd).

Morzine is also the perfect base for many other activities including trekking, paragliding, climbing, canyoning, via-ferratta, white water rafting and even rambles with donkeys. The town has an Olympic sized 50m outdoor pool and leisure park with amazing mountain views.  Close by the pool are 10 tennis courts and a fitness trail that follows the river banks.
